Well, next time they call me a nut for believing the earth is a giant geode, I'll just remind them of this.

Archaeoastronomy
Yes, it's a thing. And it's a thing I've been getting more, and more interested in ever since I was introduced to Immanuel Velikovsky's Worlds in Collision back in 1988.
Here's an interesting tidbit for you from the archaeoastronomy field: The Egyptian god, Osiris, is the star Sirius.
Why?
Good question. It's hard to say. But, for one thing, as the stars slowly drift into different positions, probably of as a result of our own movement through the Milky Way, which is itself a very interesting thing that we'll have to get into some other time, one star hasn't moved at all.
Guess which one!
That's right! SIRIUS!
But why?
Well, NASA and others have wondered why, given about 51% of the stars observed are binary systems, why isn't ours a binary system?
Maybe, though, it is. And Sirius is its partner.
But, this might also be more of that now famous mythical confusion and substitution.
What do I mean by that?
The ancients were just as baffled by the legends handed down to them as we are by what they handed down to us. Berossus, for example, an early 3rd century B.C. astronomer-priest, was appointed the task of translating, rationalizing, and compiling the even more ancient Babylonian star catalogs (considered scripture to them). At one point in this effort, he experienced an epiphany, exclaiming that the ancient god, Shamash, was, in fact the planet Saturn.
Yeah? So?
Well, as it also turns out, Shamash is the name of the center candle in the Jewish nine-branched candelabra, the Hanukkiah Menorah. (I'll bet you didn't know that the individual candles had names.) Remember that the Jews spent some time in Babylon, and their own writings suggest that this nine-branched candelabra, as opposed to the original seven-branched candelabra Moses appointed for use in the temple, came from their time in Babylon. Curiously, though, we have no record of any such artifact having ever been used in Babylon. But what this has to do with is the evolution of our solar system from its original seven members before the flood, to eight after the flood, and nine as of the Exodus. And what that means is that, if the center candle of the nine-branched menorah was named Shamash, then so was the center candle of the seven-branched menorah.
And that leads us to ... Revelation 1:12.
So, what's up with that?
Well, according to the ancient mythology, the Son of Man was Jupiter, and Man, himself, being the father, and, as such "like unto the son of Man", was ... SATURN!

Jupiter
The name, Jupiter, a Latin word, is actually not Latin, but rather a very ancient name, descending to us from as far back as the PIE (Proto Indo-European), and literally means god-father, or heavenly father.
And, in a nod to syncretism, the same Indo-European root, dyeu (to shine), which descended to us via Latin as Ju, also descended to us through Greek Zeus. That's right, the Greek king of the gods, Zeus, is actually the Greek king of the gods, and father of heaven and earth, and all THINGS which in them are: Zeus Pater. He's just usually referred to as Zeus.

Electricity is the key!
Alex Fournier's Electricity of Life series touches on a lot of this, too, but I keep waiting for these researchers to figure out that, just as the mass of sub-atomic particles is extrinsic as opposed to intrinsic (cannot be found within the particle), so, too, is the mind, and the memories, extrinsic to the flesh.
How do we know this?
Simple. In his work, The Lectures on Faith, Joseph Smith points out that the spirit is the mind of the father and the son.
Think about that.
Also, there's my assertion that the power of God is electric in nature. Recall Nephi shocking his brothers with a mere touch, as well as facsimile 2's explanation that the planets 'borrow their light from Kolob through the medium of Kae-e-vanrash, which is the grand Key, or, in other words, the governing power, which governs fifteen other fixed planets or stars'. (And notice the presence of Sirius in that list.)
Wait, what?! PLANETS or stars? Which is it?
