Courage
A good friend has just caused me to reflect on courage.
I've long taught that your courage will never be tested so much as confessing sin to a bishop.
"Your mouth will be full of cotton. Your heart will be in your throat. Your head feels like it will burst."
"But", I said, "If you can do that, you'll never lack courage for anything else in your life."
A year or so later, someone came to me to tell me how very right I was.
And that individual has indeed been a paragon of courage ever since.
Never let fear of exposure and embarrassment seduce you into harbor secret dragons that you should have slain. Light is the best disinfectant. You'd rather endure the mortal parallel of hellfire than the celestial version. That one burns deep and long.
