I can't say it's all true. I can't say he knows what he's talking about. But it seems largely correct to me.
Submarines! AGAIN!
I know. I know. I talk an awful lot about submarines for a wing-nut, but you could say the same of President Trump. And someone did. And his actual words were, "Trump actually talked about submarines in public. WE NEVER talk about submarines in public!"
Obviously not a fan.
But so what?
Did I tell you about the submarines we sank about a year or so ago?
I'm serious.
I heard with my own ears, and saw with my own eyes, Donald Trump say, during a speech, to the Coast Guard, about a year ago, that they would be getting at least one, and maybe as many as 10, brand-new, fully ARMED, NUCLEAR icebreakers. Then he switched subjects a bit to the reason for their need, that being the increasing presence of hostile powers there (not to mention that the place is, as we've heard from so many before, getting colder/icier, not warmer). I heard him say that we had also sunk multiple submarines of some other, unnamed country. He even went into detail explaining that it was a very expensive loss for 'them', that, while smaller than ours, they were still very costly things to lose that way.
Clearly, President Trump was rubbing their (the enemy's) nose in that fact very publicly.
And yet, that video, and those comments, appear to have been entirely erased from the internet. I can find no trace of them. But I've wondered ever since just whose submarines they were, how many, and why they were sunk.
Then I remembered all the hand-wringing years earlier over China's boast that they would soon be deploying supersonic submarines.
Why the hand-wringing?
It's virtually unheard of for any nation to announce any weapon system in advance of its release. Almost always, whenever they make such public announcements, that weapon is already fully deployed and operational, like when Jimmy Carter blabbed about the F-117 Nighthawk.
That means that those things were almost certainly already prowling the seas.
Emphasis on were.
That furthermore means that we still have an ace up our sleeve that no one knows anything about so they can't 'accidentally' blab it to the public, and it's something that can track and kill a supersonic sub pretty much at will.
And that alone has got to scare the wits out of the Chinese, so they've got to fall back to plan B:
