Public School
I've frequently found myself left standing in blinking disbelief at the members of the church who seem solidly rooted in the gospel and the scriptures, who then get red in the face at the mere mention that our public school system is somehow failing our children.
When I first read John Taylor Gatto's writings about the public school system, I felt like he was writing directly to me. And it wasn't just the public schools, but even institutions of higher learning, including BYU! And I should know! I attended several colleges and universities both in the US and Germany, which provided the model for our system. And it wasn't just the educational system. The military, too, was just as guilty of all the very same things as the public school system.
And, of course, the root of the problem with all of these is just simple lack of oversight and lack of accountability. Or, as I told my kids' teachers in Idaho falls, the last public school any of them would attend until they all ended up at BYUI, if I have to invest this amount of time 'helping' my kids with their homework, as well as supervising WHAT and HOW they're being taught, then I might just as well teach them myself at home.
Oh, you should have seen them. Even just the mere mention of sending my junior to the Sylvan Center triggered a team effort on their part to discourage that idea, while simultaneously drawing me, and several other parents, too, into the fold by inviting us to attend a 'curiculum review' which was plainly nothing more than a sham, an indoctrination attempt meant to placate us by making us feel like we had some say in the process.
And that was in the late 1990s and early 2000s in Idaho Falls, arguably even more conservative LDS than Utah!
This is more than a mere difference of opinion!
Good that she was fired, but bad that she was ever there in the first place.
I can only assume that those who seriously defend the crimes being committed against our children, and against our civilization, are either ignorant, having grown up in a time and place yet untouched by hell, or that they're complicit.

It took me decades to see the truth about those voices.
The John Birch Society has helped me to learn at least as much about our history as my father ever taught me.
By the way, he, too, was one of 'those voices'. But, watching his evolution from New Deal, southern Democrat to, first, Reagan Republican, and then Trump Republican, I saw what I grow ever more convinced was a similar evolution in both John and Bobby Kennedy.
I think that JFK and RFK both underwent a radical makeover at the hands of their very own. Even Joseph Smith himself, originally a Democrat, like so many of his era, was forced to face up to some very uncomfortable realities.

I once undertook to compare the villiany of the left and the right. I quickly noticed that the left/Democrats were easily guilty of at least twice as many offenses of at least twice the severity of the right/Republicans, but that, while the conservatives were almost always ruined when their behavior came to light, the liberals' offenses were almost always glossed over in some way.
I stopped counting.
There was just no point.

I do assemble these things rather hastily, and in fits and spurts, over the course of a day, while busy trying to work for a living, as I listen to these videos, and occassionally look up and read things they refer to, so it's not unthinkable that I just get scrambled. You're pretty lucky that I can even form a coherent sentence. Right?
WHICH 'school' of thought introduced compulsory, public, tax-payer funded education in the first place?
Which one has long been trying to reform, if not outright banish that same system?
In other words, public school always was a disease vector, introduced and promoted by the left: Democrats, Communists, Socialists, et al. And, like so many other things they promote, they deliberately chose a battlefield one could harly object to, like healthcare, and helping the poor. Even their names are carefully chosen to deceive, like their latest 'infrastructure' bill, which has little to nothing to do with roads, bridges, or anything else one might expect qualifies as infrastructure.
And THAT is a direct result of their corruption of our language. You see, all those 'literacy' campaigns they kept beating the drums for really had less to do with anyone's ability to read, and nothing at all to do with higher concepts of communication, but actually had to do with WHAT people were reading. The left wanted everyone reading THEIR propaganda. And they wanted tax payers to fund it all. Plus a bonus for them for having had the idea, administering the program, etc.
I can tell you that many insiders, like Mr. Gatto, have made the same journey as my parents, JFK, RFK, and even the great Ronald Reagan himself.

I've said before that every single discovery I recall NASA ever making in my life was a complete surprise to them, beginning with the Solar Wind, the Van Allen Belts, the glazing of the moon's rocks, ... just everything.
NASA thinks twice before kicking that nest again.
They're STILL determined to prove that comets are dirty snowballs, the fact that we've gotten close enough to several, and even landed on a few, to prove otherwise notwithstanding.
Max Planck's famous 'rule', that science only ever advances one funeral at a time, really is tragically true. Or, it would still be true today had the wayward scientists of my parents' generation not succeeded in establishing institutions to keep their broken legacies alive long past their due-dates.
