* The news out of Australia is grim. The police are literally shooting peaceful protesters. Three confirmed dead so far. Many more are injured. This is a civil war, and the dividing line runs right through families, church congregations, even LDS congregations. I warned of this day many times, and now it's here. We allowed too many wolves in among the sheep, trusting that our local leaders wouldn't lead us astray. We were wrong.

This is far from the only example of what very few know anything about, and that is that ALL of our dating methods are little better than a finger in the wind.
I'm sure I've mentioned the inconsistency of radioactive decay that was first discovered right here in Indiana about a decade ago, but that, too, is far from all the problems now facing every method of dating we have.
I'm sure I've also mentioned the global dendochronology project, too, but maybe I haven't mentioned that they've uncovered problems there, as well, namely that events affecting one tree's rings don't always affect nearby trees.
And then there's the fossilization problem. Power workers have submitted evidence of power poles fossilizing, practically indistinguishably from, say, petrified trees, but in a matter of minutes, and right in the middle of other poles which were completely unaffected.
And then there are the multi-million year-old dinosaurs found practically intact, soft flesh and all. Heard about that?
It all adds up to the fact that we just have next to no idea what the timeline really is.
Is it any wonder Christ repeatedly tells us not to ask about the timeline?

And, when they must touch it, they prefer it to be on a 'rock', on a mountain top, far from anyplace any mortals congregate, and even further from where all the devils fell: Into the abyss, the oceans, where the evil spirits who were given the bodies of the swine returned to. And when we wash our feet, we're trying to disassociate ourselves from this world, and associate ourselves with those who will eventually come to hew down this world, like the woman who was told to tie a red cord in her window so the children of Israel wouldn't destroy her or her house when they came through her city.
Now do you understand what Moses meant when he wrote, "Now, for this cause I know that man is nothing, which thing I never had supposed."
